Sunshine Proposal Clears House Judiciary Subcommittee
Today, Chairman Mike Jacobs’ House Judiciary Subcommittee recommended “Do Pass” on HB 397, the proposed re-write of Georgia’s sunshine laws. The bill, sponsored by Representative Jay Powell, will make the State’s Open Meetings and Open Records Laws more user-friendly for the citizens of Georgia.
Attorney General Sam Olens applauded today’s action by the Subcommittee. “I am pleased that HB 397 cleared Subcommittee today, and look forward to working with the sponsor, Representative Jay Powell, the full House Judiciary Committee and stakeholders as the bill moves forward,” said Olens. “I thank Representative Powell for his leadership on this complex issue and Chairman Mike Jacobs and the members of his Subcommittee for their ‘Do Pass’ recommendation.”
The bill, which now moves to the full House Judiciary Committee for consideration, is attached.
