Carr and 18 State Attorneys General Call on Biden to Support Energy Infrastructure

ATLANTA, GA - Attorney General Chris Carr and 18 other state attorneys general today called on President Joe Biden to support additional energy infrastructure – including the Keystone XL pipeline – following the Colonial pipeline shutdown that caused price spikes, fuel shortages, and Carter-style lines at gas stations across the south and eastern parts of the country. In a letter to President Biden, the coalition details the harm caused by his purported cancelation of the Keystone XL pipeline and urged him to put Americans’ national security and the environment first.

Carr: HHS Cannot Federally Fund Abortion

ATLANTA, GA – Attorney General Chris Carr has joined a group of 20 other attorneys general in demanding the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services decline to adopt a proposed regulation that would illegally fund abortion. 

Carr Joins 19-State Coalition Defending an Arkansas Law to Protect Down Syndrome Babies from Abortion

ATLANTA, GAAttorney General Chris Carr today joined a coalition of 19 states filing an amicus brief in support of an Arkansas law that would prohibit abortions solely based on a pre-natal Down Syndrome diagnosis. The brief was filed this morning in the case Leslie Rutledge v. Little Rock Planning Services.

When Gov. Kemp declared this State of Emergency, Georgia’s price gouging statutes were activated.

ATLANTA, GA – Attorney General Chris Carr today joined Governor Brian P. Kemp as he signed House Bill 509. HB 509 will preserve protections of preexisting medical conditions for Georgians and ensure they are provided health care opportunities without limitation or exclusion. State Representative Houston Gaines, who sponsored the bill in the Georgia House, and representatives from the Department of Insurance also joined Attorney General Carr and Governor Kemp.

Prosecution Division Indicts Former Board of Regents Member

ATLANTA, GA – The Office of the Attorney General today announced that the Prosecution Division has indicted Clarence Dean Alford, a former member of the Board of Regents representing Georgia’s 4th Congressional District, for Racketeering (1 count), Criminal Attempt (1 count), Computer Forgery (1 count) and Forgery in the Second Degree (5 counts).The Rockdale County Superior Court returned the indictment on May 3, 2021.

SCAM ALERT: Carr Warns of Fake Calls from Scammers Posing as Attorney General’s Office

ATLANTA, GA – Attorney General Chris Carr is warning the public about a scam where con artists pose as government officials in an attempt to add credibility to their schemes. Specifically, we are aware that a robocall is making the rounds saying the Attorney General’s office is calling about “your case” and instructing the recipient to press “1” to avoid negative consequences.
