Carr: Georgia Joins Bipartisan, Multi-state Investigation of JUUL

ATLANTA, GA - Attorney General Chris Carr today announced that Georgia has joined a bipartisan, multistate investigation of e-cigarette manufacturer JUUL Labs. The 39-state coalition is investigating JUUL’s marketing and sales practices, including targeting of youth, claims regarding nicotine content and statements regarding risks, safety and effectiveness as a smoking cessation device.

Carr: Federal Appeals Court Rules Cross Monument in Pensacola Stays

ATLANTA, GA - Attorney General Chris Carr today praised a decision by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit upholding the City of Pensacola’s right to continue to display a World War II-era cross monument in a public park. This ruling will help protect monuments in Georgia – including a 12-foot cross found along the trail of the Chickamauga Battlefield in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, and a stone cross honoring Georgia’s own World War I veterans that sits on a median between two streets in Augusta, Georgia.

Ninth Circuit Sides with Carr and Other AGs in Fight to Uphold Congressional Review Act

ATLANTA, GA – In March, Attorney General Chris Carr led a coalition of 13 state attorneys general in filing a friend-of-the-court brief in the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, defending the constitutionality of the Congressional Review Act (CRA), a federal law that provides Congress with a streamlined process for reviewing, and, if necessary, nullifying new regulations by federal agencies.  Earlier this week, the Ninth Circuit issued an opinion upholding the constitutionality of the CRA. The court echoed the arguments of the 13-state coalition in holding that the CRA and the joint congressional resolutions are consistent with separation-of-powers principles and otherwise do not violate the Constitution.
