ATLANTA, GA - Attorney General Chris Carr yesterday joined a coalition of 15 attorneys general from around the country in filing a brief in the United States District Court for the District of Columbia supporting the federal government’s motion to dismiss the case against Gen. Michael Flynn.

Carr Requests GBI to Conduct Investigation into Handling of Ahmaud Arbery Case

ATLANTA, GA – Attorney General Chris Carr yesterday formally requested the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), led by Director Vic Reynolds, to conduct an investigation related to the conduct of the District Attorneys of the Brunswick and Waycross Judicial Circuits in the Ahmaud Arbery case. This case involves the deadly shooting of Mr. Arbery in Glynn County, Georgia on February 23, 2020 within the Brunswick Judicial Circuit.

Carr Appoints Cobb DA to Lead Ahmaud Arbery Case

ATLANTA, GA – Attorney General Chris Carr today announced that he will formally appoint District Attorney Joyette M. Holmes of the Cobb County Judicial Circuit on Monday to lead the prosecution of Gregory and Travis McMichael who have been charged with aggravated assault and the murder of Ahmaud Arbery.

Carr Requests DOJ to Conduct Investigation into Handling of Ahmaud Arbery Case

ATLANTA, GA - Attorney General Chris Carr today formally requested the U.S. Department of Justice, led by U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Georgia Bobby Christine, to conduct an investigation into the handling of the Ahmaud Arbery case. This case involves the deadly shooting Mr. Arbery in Glynn County, Georgia on February 23, 2020 within the Brunswick Judicial Circuit. At the time of Mr. Arbery’s death and up until May 7, 2020, no arrests were made in the case.

Carr Joins AG Colleagues in Effort to Strengthen Illegal Robocall Enforcement

ATLANTA, GA – Attorney General Chris Carr recently joined a bipartisan coalition of 52 attorneys general in calling on USTelecom – the leading organization representing telecommunications providers – and its Industry Traceback Group (ITG) to continue its collaboration with state attorneys general by bolstering technological capabilities to improve enforcement against illegal robocallers. In a letter sent yesterday to USTelecom the coalition is urging the association to further develop robocall traceback and other tools suited to law enforcement needs.

Carr and Partners Kick Off 9th Annual Georgia Legal Food Frenzy

ATLANTA, GA –Today marks the first day of the 9th Annual Georgia Legal Food Frenzy, a two-week virtual fundraising drive fueled by Georgia’s legal community. The 2020 competition is presented by the Office of the Attorney General and the Young Lawyers Division (YLD) of the State Bar of Georgia to benefit the Georgia Food Bank Association’s regional food banks. The competition is timed each year to stock the food banks in preparation for the surge they experience during the summer when kids are out of school and eating more from their families’ pantry. This year, the Legal Food Frenzy is also focused on helping the food banks respond to the increasing number of Georgians seeking food assistance due to effects of the Coronavirus pandemic. 

CONSUMER ALERT: Carr Warns Georgians of Home Repair Fraud in Wake of Recent Storms

ATLANTA, GA – The storms and tornadoes that passed through Georgia have put a number of residents in the position of having to repair and rebuild homes that were damaged.  Unfortunately, there are home repair scammers out there who will try to exploit this disaster by asking for up-front payments for home repair services and then disappear without ever doing the work. In other cases, scammers may charge exorbitant prices, charge for unnecessary repairs or do sub-standard work.
