ATLANTA, GA – Attorney General Chris Carr today issued the following statement regarding the U.S. Senate confirmation of The Honorable Britt Grant to serve on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit:

“Before Britt Grant began serving as a Justice on the Supreme Court of Georgia, the Georgia Department of Law had the distinct honor of calling her one of our own,” said Attorney General Chris Carr. “During her time as Solicitor General, I got to know Britt and her dedication to the rule of law and to serving others. She has a deeply rooted respect for the U.S. Constitution and the constitution and laws of the state of Georgia, and I am confident she will continue to faithfully interpret and apply the law as written and will represent Georgians and the American people well on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.”

Grant has served as a justice on the Supreme Court of Georgia since 2017. Prior to her appointment to the bench, she served as the solicitor general of Georgia and, before that, as counsel for legal policy to the attorney general of Georgia. Upon graduation from law school, Justice Grant served as a law clerk to Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.

She earned her J.D., with distinction, from Stanford Law School. Before enrolling in law school, Justice Grant served in the White House as deputy associate director of the Office of Cabinet Affairs and earlier as assistant to the director in the Domestic Policy Council and USA Freedom Corps. She also served as legislative correspondent and communications director to Georgia Congressman Nathan Deal. Justice Grant earned her bachelor’s degree, summa cum laude, from Wake Forest University.
