Guled Mohamed, a Somali non-resident alien, and Ladeidra Johnson, a former license examiner with the Georgia Department of Driver Services, pled guilty today in DeKalb County Superior Court to four counts of False Statement (O.C.G.A. § 16-10-20) for their role in a scheme to issue fraudulent drivers licenses.

An investigation revealed that four Somali nationals paid Mohamed $500.00 to assist them in obtaining driver licenses, which they were unable to qualify for legally. Mohamed then conspired with Johnson, who processed the licenses for the individuals absent the required written or driving tests. Additionally, Johnson processed a fraudulent license for Mohamed in 2005.

Judge Courtney Johnson sentenced Mohamed to three years in prison to run concurrently with a separate sentence he is currently serving in federal prison. Judge Johnson sentenced Johnson to five years probation, 200 hours community service and a fine of $1,000.00.

Assistant Attorney General Daniel A. Hiatt prosecuted the case on behalf of the State of Georgia. The case was investigated by Danny Smith of Georgia Department of Driver Services.
