Attorney General Sam Olens and Representative Jay Powell presented a substitute of HB 397 to the House Judiciary Committee today. The bill, which clarifies and strengthens the Open Records and Open Meetings Acts, was originally filed last week. The substitute incorporates suggestions received throughout the drafting process.

Attorney General Olens said today, “We look forward to hearings this summer to discuss HB 397 in greater detail to set the stage for passage when the General Assembly reconvenes in 2012.”

Hearings on HB 397 will be scheduled this summer during the special session for reapportionment. To view the substitute bill, please click Download this pdf file. here .
