Attorneys General Elect Georgia Attorney General Baker As Chair Of Southern Region
(Atlanta) Georgia Attorney General Thurbert Baker has been elected chair of the Southern Region of Attorneys General at the recently concluded meeting of the National Association of Attorneys General. Baker was elected by his fellow Attorneys General from the Southern Region, which stretches from Virginia to Texas. This election marks the fourth time that Baker has been selected by his colleagues to represent the Southern Region’s interests in the national organization.
As chair, Attorney General Baker will serve on the executive committee of the National Association. The executive committee oversees policy and litigation strategies undertaken by the nation’s Attorneys General. Recent initiatives by the organization include litigation against Ford Motor Company concerning the safety and handling of certain sports utility vehicles and litigation against pharmaceutical companies for anti-competitive pricing schemes that artificially inflated the cost of prescription drugs for consumers nationwide. Attorney General Baker also will continue to serve as the National Association’s official delegate to the governing board of the American Bar Association.
