On May 15, 2013, Keshorna Miller pled guilty to Theft by Taking, O.C.G.A. §§ 16-8-2, 16-8-12 (a) (3), in Fulton County Superior Court for stealing personal funds from elderly residents at an Atlanta nursing home.

Miller was employed at Parkview Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center as patient account clerk, which meant that she oversaw residents’ monetary funds. Parkview Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is a Medicaid provider serving elderly residents living with age related diseases, including cognitive diseases. Between August 2009 and May 2010, Miller stole money from the residents on a regular basis out of their in-house petty cash box. When her supervisors noticed the discrepancies, she was terminated.

Judge Walter Lovett sentenced Miller to five years probation and ordered her to pay restitution in the amount of $4,008.00.

Assistant Attorney General Henry A. Hibbert prosecuted the case on behalf of the State of Georgia. The case was investigated Investigator Johnny Brooks, Investigative Auditor Judy Cooper and Criminal Intelligence Analyst Zwella Boyd, all of the Georgia Medicaid Fraud Control Unit, a unit of the Georgia Attorney General’s Office.
