Carr Provides Update to Legislators on Request for Investigation into Offensive Texts Sent to Mayor Bottoms
ATLANTA,GA – On April 23, 2020, several members of the Georgia General Assembly requested the Office of the Attorney General to undertake an investigation regarding certain offensive text messages sent to Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms which purportedly connected to a state e-mail account.
On July 10, 2020 Attorney General Chris Carr let the requestors know that his office has undertaken an investigation and confirmed the fake email account referenced in the text message was not a State of Georgia email address. The investigation continues.
Both communications are attached.
