Fayetteville Woman Convicted Of Medicaid Fraud For Submitting Claims Under Former Business Associate's Medicaid Provider Information
This morning in Dekalb County Superior Court, Virginia R. Jackson pled guilty to one count of Medicaid Fraud. Superior Court Judge Linda Warren Hunter sentenced her to serve 7 years in prison followed by 3 years of probation.
Jackson, who ran Viewpoint of Metropolitan Atlanta, a healthcare provider located in East Point, Georgia, contracted with Dr. Clifford Beal to provide psychotherapy at Viewpoint. Beal's business relationship with Jackson lasted just three weeks, yet after Beal had left Viewpoint, Jackson continued to submit Medicaid claims using Beal's Medicaid Provider Information. Jackson admitted during the course of the state's investigation that Beal had no knowledge that she was utilizing his information to continue to bill the state Medicaid system. The Medicaid system suffered a $396,101.81 loss due to Jackson's fraud.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant Attorney General D Williams McNeely. The case was investigated by Agents Karen Crowe, Heather Strickland and Caroline Wolan of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and by Auditor Kim Kolesnik of the State Auditor's Office..
