Attorney General Baker Invited To Testify Before Congress On Efforts To Eradicate Domestic Violence
(Atlanta – April 15, 2002) Responding to an invitation from Senator Joseph Biden of Delaware, Attorney General Thurbert Baker will testify before the Senate Judiciary’s Sub-Committee on Crime and Drugs on Tuesday, April 16, 2002. The focus of the hearings will be on the nationwide problems of domestic violence and the role to be played by the Justice Department’s Violence Against Women Office.
Attorney General Baker has made the fight to end domestic violence a priority as Attorney General, and his leadership on this issue has been recognized by his peers through his selection as Co-Chair of the Violence Against Women Committee of the National Association of Attorneys General. Baker is one of three national experts on the domestic violence crisis called to testify before the Senate panel on what commitment is needed from the federal government to combat this growing nationwide epidemic.
