Peggy Eckrote
Peggy joined the Department of Law in 2000 and worked for 19 years in the Environmental and Natural Resources Section, where she represented a number of state agencies including the Environmental Protection Division, the Department of Agriculture, the Department of Natural Resources, and the Coastal Resource Division, among others. Peggy was the Environmental and Natural Resources Section Leader from May 2018 until her appointment as Deputy Attorney General.
Prior to joining the Department of Law, she gained extensive trial experience as an officer in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps, where she served for nine years on active duty and 12 years in the Army Reserve. Peggy retired from the Army Reserve as a Lieutenant Colonel in 2012.
She earned a B.S. from Louisiana State University in 1983 and her J.D. from Loyola University School of Law in New Orleans in 1990.
