Loretta Pinkston-Pope
Deputy Attorney General of the General Litigation Division
Loretta served as Chief of the Tort Litigation Section from 1997-2022, representing state government entities and their officers and employees in lawsuits governed by the Georgia Tort Claims Act and the Georgia Constitution. She began her career handling insurance defense cases and then expanded her practice to include other types of civil litigation, such as plaintiffs’ personal injury matters and business-related disputes. Loretta transitioned to the public sector in 1997, first serving as City Attorney for the City of Macon and then moving to Atlanta to join the Attorney General’s Office.
Loretta earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Wesleyan College and her law degree from the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University, both magna cum laude.
