Beth Burton
Deputy Attorney General of the Criminal Justice Division
Beth previously served as Chief of the Capital Litigation Section. She has litigated extensively in superior courts throughout the state, the Supreme Court of Georgia, all three federal district courts in Georgia, the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of the United States.
Beth has handled post-conviction litigation in death penalty and non-death penalty cases, appeals in murder cases, and criminal cases involving the state in the Supreme Court of the United States.
She earned a B.A. in History from the University of Georgia in 1989 and her J.D. from the University of Georgia Lumpkin School of Law in 1992.
