Solicitor General - Administrative Assistant

Salary Range $40,000-$65,000

 

The mission of the Department of Law is to serve the citizens of the State of Georgia by providing legal representation of the highest quality to the agencies, officers and employees of state government and by honorably and vigorously carrying out the constitutional and statutory responsibilities of the Attorney General. 

The Georgia Solicitor General seeks to hire a legal administrative assistant. As the chief appellate litigator for the State of Georgia, the Solicitor General oversees the State’s appellate litigation, with particular focus on the United States Supreme Court, the Georgia Supreme Court, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.

 

The SG Unit’s legal administrative assistant is critical support for the Solicitor General’s day-to-day operations. The legal administrative assistant position includes significant responsibility: managing deadlines, calendars, spreadsheets, and drafting various legal documents.

 

 

Opportunities & Responsibilities

Applicants can expect to:

• Draft and review correspondence, waivers and motions, forms, and 
  administrative orders
• Manage documents, deadline trackers, and calendars for the unit
• Manage inboxes and keep attorneys up to date on case information
• Manage multiple spreadsheets and trackers for the section and disperse 
   regular updates regarding the contents of the spreadsheets/trackers
• File documents in various courts
• Perform other duties as required

 

Minimum qualifications: 

  •           One-year legal secretary experience

OR

  •           Two years’ general secretary experience. 
  •           Strong typing and Organizational skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Notary Public or ability to become a Notary Public
