ATLANTA, GA - Attorney General Chris Carr and partners from metro Atlanta law firms joined today to celebrate the upcoming 2018 Georgia Legal Food Frenzy Competition with a luncheon hosted by Troutman Sanders.

"The metro Atlanta legal community is fired up to start this year's Georgia Legal Food Frenzy, thanks in large part to the new Atlanta Community Food Bank Legal Food Frenzy Task Force," said Attorney General Carr. "We greatly appreciate Troutman Sanders for hosting the kick-off luncheon, and we are grateful to all who participate in this most worthy cause."

Georgia Legal Food Frenzy

The Georgia Legal Food Frenzy is a partnership between the Office of the Attorney General, the Young Lawyers Division of the State Bar of Georgia and the Georgia Food Bank Association. The competition urges lawyers across the state to raise food and funds for Georgia’s regional food banks across the state — which serve 156,500 unique clients in Georgia on a weekly basis. All of the food and funds collected are donated to the food bank that serves each competitor’s respective community. Every member of the legal community is encouraged to join at galegalfoodfrenzy.org/sign-up.

One in four children in Georgia are food insecure, and nearly 60 percent of Georgia’s public school students are eligible for either a free or reduced breakfast or lunch each day; however, fewer than 15 percent have access to the lunch program during the summer. The competition is timed to help the food banks go into summer strong and well-stocked to meet the increased demand for food from working families.
