The mission of the Department of Law is to serve the citizens of the State of Georgia by providing legal representation of the highest quality to the agencies, officers and employees of state government and by honorably and vigorously carrying out the constitutional and statutory responsibilities of the Attorney General.  The position filled through this announcement will serve in the Consumer Protection Division (CPD).


Job Summary

Position assists the Division through the receipt, entry, management and analysis of written information related to allegations of violation of civil consumer protection laws.  The Analyst collects, verifies, codes, and enters detailed data into computer applications or databases.  Analyst further analyzes data for patterns, consistencies, and inconsistencies, in support of resolution of disputes, investigations and/or prosecutions.  To be successful in this position you must be organization, job-focus, and detail-orientation.

Duties & Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Managing daily influx of written information submitted to Division;
  • Entering data into applications;
  • Verifying/researching information through outside sources such as corporate records, licensing board records and LexisNexis;
  • Preparing spreadsheets, graphs, charts, and other illustrative devices;
  • Assisting Division staff with case handling and development.

Minimum Qualifications

A four year degree from an accredited college or university; Demonstrated experience with Windows-based applications and online research; the ability to manage a wide variety of tasks/assignments; strong oral and written communication skills as well as strong organizational skills.


Preferred Qualifications

In addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, meet one or more of the following:

  1. Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university in any field of study;
  2. College level coursework in statistics or data analysis;
  3. Experience using LexisNexis or analytical software;
  4. Demonstrated ability to enter high volume of data accurately and efficiently.


Additional Information:

A criminal background check is completed on all candidates; employment is also contingent upon the completion and satisfactory results of the background investigation. Candidates that are being strongly considered for the position will also be required to submit a Department of Law employment application & waiver, Georgia Department of Revenue Tax Clearance letter and copies of official college transcripts.
