Administrative Generalist - Consumer Protection Division

The mission of the Department of Law is to serve the citizens of the State of Georgia by providing legal representation of the highest quality to the agencies, officers and employees of state government and by honorably and vigorously carrying out the constitutional and statutory responsibilities of the Attorney General.  The position filled through this announcement will serve in the Consumer Protection Division (CPD).

Job Summary:

This position works in the Consumer Protection Division of the Georgia Department of Law.  This Division is the state government entity charged with protecting Georgia consumers and businesses from unfair, deceptive and unlawful practices in the marketplace.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

The primary duties of this position are to manage multiple filing systems, including day-to-day filing and record retention management; enter data into databases; generate letters and other documents;  provide back-up reception responsibilities for CPD’s front desk and redirect incoming calls on main administrative phone lines; assist HR/purchasing officer w/responsibilities, including time keeping management, work order requests, surplus, and procurement; maintain office supplies; identify re-order needs; and perform other duties as required.  Lifts/ moves boxes weighing up to 25 lbs.

Minimum Qualifications:  

Three years of experience performing general clerical tasks,

OR

One year of vocational/technical school or college education and two years of clerical experience,  

OR

  Two years from a technical/vocational school or accredited college or university and one year of clerical experience. 

Strong organizational skills required.

 

Preferred Qualifications:   

Preference will be given to those who have one or more of the following: 

  • Experience filing-both alphabetical and numerical sorting;
  • Bachelor’ s degree from an accredited college or university;
  • Experience working in an office environment (this experience may have been in the form of an internship);
  • Experience using Microsoft, including Word and Outlook;
  • Experience entering information in a database;
  • Fluent in Spanish.

Additional Information:
