ATLANTA, GA - Attorney General Chris Carr today made the following statement on human trafficking legislation, HB 341, which cleared its last major hurdle in the Senate by a vote of 52 - 0:

“HB 341, which will enable law enforcement to address the growing problem of human trafficking in our state, has cleared a major hurdle in the Senate,” said Attorney General Chris Carr. “By pushing this critical piece of legislation forward, the Georgia General Assembly has taken a strong stand for human trafficking victims and a strong stand against perpetrators. We remain confident that this bill will serve as a powerful deterrent for anyone who thinks they can engage in this modern day slavery in our state.”

The Office of the Attorney General would like to commend Senator Renee Unterman and Representative Bert Reeves, who have championed the bill, and those members of the Georgia General Assembly who worked on this critical piece of legislation throughout the process, including Senator Bill Cowsert, Senator Greg Kirk, Representative Trey Kelley, Representative Brian Strickland, Representative Christian Coomer, Representative Rich Golick and Representative Mandi Ballinger.
